The Australian SME Metis Technologies, in collaboration with CSIRO, has developed and patented a greener chemical process to produce fibres with exceptional performance properties, including:
- Anti-microbial and anti-fungal
- Non-toxic with minimal smoke emissions
- Absorbent and safe for skin contact
- Flame-retardant (no melting or dripping)
This breakthrough fibre technology, which addresses critical needs in Health, Defence, and Fire & Emergency Services, is unmatched by any commercially available alternatives. Metis has agreed with Australian SMEs LoomTex and Colan to undertake the scale up work in Geelong Victoria.
This project, supported by a $3M industry grant as part of a ~$7M total investment over three years, will see our innovative Metis Technologies/CSIRO process transition from lab scale towards commercialization.
