Vermiculite is a mineral treatment applied to texturised fabrics for high temperature applications. It does not enhance the fabrics physical properties, however, it considerably improves the fabrics ability to handle sudden exposure to high temperatures. It provides burn through protection and enhanced insulation properties. A range of tests conducted with a blow torch operating at 1100° C showed no burn through after 30 minutes.
