Colan Australia now houses manufacturing operations overseas as well as locally.

Colan remains committed to Australian manufacturing. However, international competition in the last decade has increased dramatically. With the downturn in local manufacturing industry wide, staying idle for a local manufacturer can be fruitless. Several years ago we decided as a company to be proactive and look for competitive opportunities offshore.

The result is pleasing to announce. We now have a system in place which offers a balanced approach to supply. We manufacture both locally and internationally. This approach has allowed us to remain committed to the local manufacturing industry and maintain our roots as the only Australian manufacturer to weave and stitch composite fabrics in the country.

Our overseas plant is based in India. It is purpose built and is setup with the latest machinery from German machine suppliers Liba and Dornier. This state of the art facility under goes the same strict quality control processes as our Australian operations. In fact all our technology and control systems were introduced to ensure the quality is up to the Colan standard. Our people have made trips on many an occasion to ensure the quality coming out of the Indian facility is on par with what we make in Australia. The inputs used are also the same. Fibreglass yarns and rovings are supplied from our major U.S.A and European based raw material suppliers.

Our aim is to produce the same quality fabrics anywhere in the world by replicating our technology and manufacturing model that was built through decades of Australian manufacturing experience.
